Safety Professionals moving from playing a role in Karpman’s Drama Triangle to influencing through the Influencing Cycle.

My understanding is that many people who pursue safety as a career because they want to make a difference. They want to do this by helping people be safe at work. Many safety professionals then find themselves in conflict, not only with managers and supervisors, but also the people they want to keep safe – the workers. They often feel like victims – “I was only trying to help”. There is a different way.  By using an influencing approach as described in the Influencing Cycle the relationship is changed from conflict to support and learning.
